After a long gap, actress Deepika Prasai is set to return to the big screen, calling ‘Mayavi’ a special film for her.
In a conversation with the media, Deepika shared, “This project has been a five-year journey. Right after it started, I found out I was pregnant. At that point, I had to choose between my child and the film. But I put my faith in God and decided to embrace both. The filming process was extremely challenging, but now, seeing the audience’s excitement makes me very happy.”
Deepika also revealed that she almost had to step away from the film during the shooting. She said, “I told director Diwakar Bhattarai that I could no longer continue and even suggested casting another actress. However, he assured me in every possible way, saying, ‘You are the only one for this role; I cannot imagine anyone else.’ That convinced me to continue.”
Deepika further expressed that ‘Mayavi’ feels like her second child. When asked whose passion drove the project forward, she replied, “Looking at it now, it seems like the director’s madness, but it was also the passion of the entire team. That’s why this film has made it to the theaters.”

She described ‘Mayavi’ as a story about “the madness of love.” She also stated that she has no issues working in either external banner films or home productions and is now committed to continuing her film career.
When asked about the meaning of ‘Mayavi’, Deepika explained, “In the film, ‘Mayavi’ is shown in different ways. Generally, the word refers to an illusion or enchantment, but in this film, ‘Mayavi’ represents attraction.”
Produced by Dhruva Neupane, Raj Katuwal, and Chandra Pant, the film’s executive producers are Prabin Bhattarai and Karan Singh. Additionally, Manju Bhandari, Raju Parajuli, and Sumit Oli have contributed as co-producers. The movie is set to release on Falgun 14.
Directed by Diwakar Bhattarai, the film stars Pal Shah, Deepika Prasai, Prashant Tamrakar, Sushil Sitoula, Karishma Shrestha, Samim Khan, and other talented actors.
