The Nepal Film Artists Association has announced its decision to honor veteran actors and contributors to the Nepali film industry. A recent executive committee meeting finalized the selection of recipients for various awards and recognitions.
The Nepal Film Artists Association Award, established in 1998 (2055 B.S.), will be conferred upon the following artists this year:
2078 B.S. Award – Character actor Mukunda Kishore Bhattarai, who has been acting for five decades.
2079 B.S. Award – Character actor Laya Sangraula, with four decades of acting experience.
2080 B.S. Award – Actor Puran Joshi, who has also been active in acting for four decades.
Similarly, the Shanti Maske Memorial Award, established in 2011 (2068 B.S.) in memory of the association’s founding coordinator, the late Shanti Maske, will be presented to actress Gauri Malla, who has been acting for over four decades.
According to the association, the Nepal Film Artists Association Award carries a cash prize of NPR 75,000, while the Shanti Maske Memorial Award comes with a cash prize of NPR 56,000.
‘Gopal Raut Memorial Award’ Announced
In memory of the late actor Gopal Raut, artists residing in the United States and actress Laxmi Sharma donated NPR 300,000 to the association as an endowment fund. The interest generated from this fund will be used to present the ‘Gopal Raut Memorial Award’, starting this year.
For 2080 B.S., the Gopal Raut Memorial Award will be conferred upon veteran actor Ramkaji Ghimire, who has been acting for four decades. The award carries a cash prize of NPR 10,000.
The association has also decided to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the film and media industry. The following personalities will be honored:
Dr. Rupak Ghimire
Actor Dhiren Shakya
Journalist Krishna Bhattarai
Artist Geeta Adhikari
Actress Anu Shah
Aircell Travel
According to the association, all these awards and recognitions will be presented at the Annual General Meeting on Chaitra 4 (March 17, 2025).
