
The popular Nepali band Kandara is set to perform for its fans scattered across the globe in 2025.
Marking the occasion of the English New Year, the band will kick off its international musical tour on January 4 at The O2 in London, UK.
Kandara’s lead vocalist, Vivek Shrestha, shared, “Starting an international music tour from a dream venue like The O2 is a moment of joy for any artist. The fact that Kandara’s first UK concert will be held at The O2 excites all of us in the band.” He also mentioned that after London, the band plans to perform in Dubai, Qatar, and Hong Kong later in January.
The O2 in London is a renowned venue where audiences from various cities across Europe come to experience live performances by their favorite artists. The venue has hosted legendary acts such as Led Zeppelin, Elton John, Linkin Park, Prince, Shania Twain, Madonna, David Bowie, and the famous Indian composer A.R. Rahman. Kandara will be the first Nepali band to perform at The O2. Previously, Nepali artist Sajjan Raj Vaidya had also performed at this iconic venue.
Along with the concert, the band is set to release new songs, including their upcoming track “Hunechha (The Song of Hope)” on January 1.
Known for singing about the joys and sorrows of love, nature, and specific places, Kandara’s new song stands out from its previous works.
According to Vivek, the song is being released with the aim of spreading optimism and positive energy for the New Year. The band had previously released the track “Bichar Ma.”
On November 10, Kandara performed at LOD Club in Thamel under the theme “First in the Homeland, Then Abroad,” marking a surge in their musical activities.
The song’s lyrics and music were composed by the band’s drummer, Sunil Thapa. The song aims to inspire hope and serves as a message for personal and societal improvement, emphasizing the need for individuals to bring positive changes in their thoughts, behaviors, and actions. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had even extended his best wishes for the success of the song with his signature.
Kandara, known for its melodious and meaningful songs, is celebrating its three-decade journey with special events. The band has already successfully performed concerts in the Gandaki, Koshi, and Bagmati provinces.
The current lineup of Kandara includes Vivek Shrestha on vocals, Sunil Thapa on drums, Dev Lama on lead guitar, Pankaj Jha on bass guitar, Avinash Gayak on madal, and Umesh Thapa on keyboard. Sunil Thapa has been a member of the band since its inception.
