Haribansha’s ‘Bhutan’ Releasing Baisakh 12

The release date for the second film directed by Binod Paudel, renowned for Bulbul, has been announced. On Thursday, Mad Monkey Films revealed the movie’s poster and set its release date for Baisakh 12, 2082 (April 24, 2025).

The English title of the film is The World’s Happiest Man, symbolizing “the happiest person in the world.” The poster prominently features lead actor Haribansha Acharya, depicted with a somber expression, sporting completely gray hair and a beard.

The poster also includes Hollywood actor Bruce Dern and Nepali actor Dayahang Rai. Dayahang is portrayed in a U.S. Army uniform. The poster attempts to reflect the looks and emotional states of the characters.

The story and direction of the film are by Vinod Paudel. The cast includes Anuradha Majumdar, Puja Chand, Richa Ghimire, Joyce Pandey, Aditi Pyakurel, Tom Crane, and Bimal Subedi.

The movie involves the collaboration of some Hollywood technicians as well. The producers are Vinod Paudel, Aviral Thapa, Rajendra Thakurathi, Amitabh Joshi, Sashank Mainali, and Kirtana Banskota. According to director Paudel, the film is crafted for a global audience, and everyone watching it will resonate with its depth and emotions.

One of the producers, Aviral Thapa, claims that the film will showcase Haribansha Acharya in a completely new avatar with an extraordinary performance. He believes Bhutan will become a timeless piece in Acharya’s career.

The film portrays the patriotism of Bhutanese people living in Bhutan, India, Nepal, and the U.S., alongside the struggles of leaving their homeland and the search for their roots.

The technical team includes cinematography by Susan Prajapati, editing by Anjay Khadka, sound design by Dinesh Khadgi Shahi, casting by Surya Shahi, production design by Bimal Subedi, and art direction by Bollywood’s Anjan Gajurel.
