The film ‘Juna: Ek Byatha’, aimed at discouraging child marriage and gender-based violence, has released its teaser. Produced under the banner of Godawari Film Production and Research Pvt. Ltd., the film is scheduled to release on February 7, 2025 (Magh 25, 2081).
The film is directed by Jeevan Century. The teaser, released via OSR Digital, showcases the struggles of the lead character, portrayed by Asmita Dhakal. Through her character, the teaser highlights the devastating impact of mismatched marriages on a woman’s life.
The cast includes Asmita Dhakal, Krishna Prasad Dhital, Deshbhakta Khanal, Rashmi Bhatt, Anita Basnet, Kamal Bohora, and Khagendra Neupane.
According to director Century, the film carries the message: “Child marriage is a social crime. Let’s end it.” He added, ‘Juna: Ek Byatha’ is a historical and socially significant film addressing the urgent need to eradicate harmful practices like gender-based violence, child marriage, mismatched marriages, polygamy, rape, and the tradition of chaupadi prevalent in Nepal.
The director also noted that the film aligns with the Nepalese government’s goal of ending child marriage by 2030.
Shot in Salija Okhreni, Parbat District, the film is funded by Deepak Prasad Ghimire. The story is written by Raj Bahadur Sane, with music by BB Anuragi and Ramesh Century, lyrics by Jeevan Century and Bhim Bahadur Paudel, and vocals by Anju Panta, Purnakala BC, and Yadurai Lakanri. Rameshwar Humagai has handled the cinematography.
The film will be distributed by Apple Entertainment, Rich Entertainment, and FD Company.
