A wave of people leaving the village, and amidst it, a creator like Hirulal, songwriter Ratan Devkota, has come up with a new creation. Through the song titled “Jadau Hajur,” Devkota has presented the hardships of Karnali in a unique way.
With lyrics and melodies representing Karnali, the song blends live music with modern instruments, creating a unique fusion. Devkota is hopeful that the song will win the hearts of the audience.
Devkota himself has written the lyrics, composed the music, provided vocals, and conceptualized as well as directed the music video. The video’s cinematography is handled by Saurabh Lamichhane as the DOP, while Sushil Khanal has taken care of the editing and cinematography.
Speaking about the song, Ratan says, “This song presents the pain, struggle, and hope of Karnali in the rhythm of Hudke. It weaves stories of hunger, discrimination, and migration. This song is Karnali’s silent call for justice, unity, and change.”
