The prestigious business house, Golchha Group, in collaboration with Prisma Advertising, has officially announced their entry into film production through their company, Bioscope Cinema Pvt Ltd.

On Wednesday, during an event in Kathmandu, the company formally announced the film Paran.

The film will be directed by popular comedian Deepak Acharya, known for portraying the character ‘Kaku’ in the hit comedy TV series Sakkigoni. This will mark his directorial debut.

Veteran actor Nir Shah will play the lead role in the film, alongside Keki Adhikari, Prabin Khatiwada, Buddhi Tamang, Mahesh Tripathi, Anjana Baraili, Pooja Chand, Subhash Gajurel, and Yaman Shrestha, among others.
Director Acharya’s youngest son, Aryadeep Acharya, will also appear in the film as a child actor.

The filming is set to commence in the first week of Falgun (mid-February) and will take place in Kathmandu and Dhankuta.

Speaking at the announcement event, Shekhar Golchha shared that his motivation for entering film production stemmed from his experiences as the President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). He mentioned that during his visits to various festivals across the country, he often found the cultural programs lacked authentic Nepali identity. He further stated that his goal behind making the film is to promote Nepali culture and heritage.

“When I was the President of FNCCI, I attended various festivals where I saw that our originality was often diluted in the programs. I always told the organizers not to invite me if they were going to compromise our cultural authenticity. I wouldn’t attend otherwise,” Golchha said. “In our movies, too, it feels like we are losing our originality. We need to bring it back. If we keep copying others’ cultures, we will lose our own identity. While there is a business aspect to making films, we also want to preserve originality, ensure professionalism, and establish corporate culture—where all involved artists work under contracts, receive timely payments, and maintain financial transparency, including taxes.”

Similarly, Ranjit Acharya shared that although the company was established in 2017 with plans to enter the film industry by 2018, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed their progress, and they could only move forward with their project in 2024. He further emphasized their commitment to producing films that reflect Nepalese culture and values.

“We founded the company in 2017 to make films, but the project has only moved forward in 2024 due to the pandemic. Moving forward, we will continue to make films that carry the essence of Nepali culture,” Acharya said.

The announcement event was attended by legendary actor Rajesh Hamal, veteran comedian Haribansha Acharya, actors Deepashree Niraula, Nisha Adhikari, Dinesh DC, Ashok Sharma, Krishna Malla, along with business figures such as Saurabh Jyoti and Vidushi Rana, director of Kiran Shoes Manufacturers, known for producing Goldstar shoes.

Paran, presented under the Bioscope Cinema banner, will have cinematography by Shivaram Shrestha, music by Mitra Dev Gurung, and color coordination by Supreme Parajuli.
