
Juna: Ek Byatha, produced with the aim of discouraging child marriage and violence against women, has released its trailer.
The trailer was unveiled on Monday during an event in the capital, and the film is set to be released on the 25th of Magh. Directed by Jeevan Century, the film is produced under the banner of Godawari Film Production & Research Pvt. Ltd.
The trailer, released via OSR Digital, portrays the struggles of Asmita Dhakal’s character from her childhood marriage to her pregnancy. It begins with a scene where a marriage proposal is made, followed by depictions of the hardships and suffering she endures from her husband and mother-in-law after marriage. The trailer also highlights the negative intentions of antagonistic villagers towards the young girl.
The trailer is deeply emotional, showcasing the immense pain and struggles a young girl faces after child marriage. It also captures the concern and sorrow of the girl’s parents after her marriage.
Alongside Asmita Dhakal, the trailer features actors such as Krishna Prasad Dhital, Deshbhakta Khanal, Rashmi Bhatt, Anita Basnet, and Kamal Bohora. Following the trailer release, the film’s producer, Deepak Prasad Ghimire, expressed his belief that the film’s realistic portrayal would resonate with audiences. He stated, “Regardless of our profession or business, this story belongs to our own homes and villages. Such incidents are not only prevalent in Nepal but also across South Asia. We are hopeful that this film will help prevent such violence.”
Director Jeevan Century mentioned that the film aims to raise awareness and inspire society to end harmful practices such as violence against women, child marriage, mismatched marriages, polygamy, rape, and the chaupadi system prevalent in Nepali society.
The film stars Asmita Dhakal, Krishna Prasad Dhital, Deshbhakta Khanal, Rashmi Bhatt, Kamal Bohora, Asmita Basnet, and Khagendra Nyaupane.
Shot in Salija Okhreni, Parbat, the film is produced by Deepak Prasad Ghimire. It features a story by Raj Bahadur Sane, music by BB Anuragi and Ramesh Century, lyrics by Jeevan Century and Bhim Bahadur Poudel, and vocals by Anju Panta, Purnakala BC, and Yadurai Lakandri. The cinematography is handled by Rameshwar Humagai. The film’s distribution will be managed by Apple Entertainment, Rich Entertainment, and FD Company.
