Why did U.S. Embassy Visa Chief Gregory visit the Film Board?

A formal discussion was held between Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Nepal Film Development Board, and Gregory D. Simkiss, Head of Visa at the U.S. Embassy in Nepal, in the board’s office.

The meeting, attended by the Consular team from the U.S. Embassy, focused on the current state of Nepali cinema, film awards and honor ceremonies held in Nepal and the United States, and issues related to U.S. visas for film professionals.

Visa Chief Gregory D. Simkiss expressed interest in the selection process, credibility of film awards in Nepal, and the authenticity of recommendation letters received by artists.

During the meeting, Chairman DC highlighted the need for Nepali filmmakers to have easy access to film festivals, workshops, and other cultural programs in the U.S. to strengthen the international expansion of the Nepali film industry and Nepal-U.S. cultural relations. He also emphasized the importance of organizing large-scale special events featuring American and Nepali films in Nepal.

Gregory D. Simkiss stated that the U.S. Embassy is positive about facilitating the visa process for Nepali film professionals.

The Film Development Board has been making various efforts to promote Nepali films internationally. As part of this endeavor, Chairman DC emphasized the need for further facilitation in the visa process to strengthen ties with the United States.

This meeting is expected to play a crucial role in easing international travel for Nepali filmmakers.
