Kathmandu – Actor Arjun Ghimire (Pandey) from the film Laaj Sharanam has revealed that the movie was created after four years of effort. According to him, it took about four years from the initial writing phase to bring Laaj Sharanam to life.
He shared that the film tells the story of ordinary citizens in Karnali, highlighting their struggles and the exploitation they face from the upper class. The movie is presented in a dark comedy format, blending humor with a serious narrative.
“We have used dark humor to tell a compelling story while making the audience laugh,” Arjun said. “For a long time, we have entertained audiences through television comedy. Now, we are attempting to do the same through cinema.”
Arjun is confident that just like their TV series, Laaj Sharanam will also receive strong audience support. While other actors from Sakkigoni are portraying different roles, Arjun will continue playing his signature character, Pandey. He explained that since audiences love him in this role, the character has been retained in the film.
“Even if I take on a different character in a movie, people still see me as Pandey. So, I have embraced it and will portray a short yet impactful role in Laaj Sharanam,” Arjun added.
Apart from acting, Arjun is also the executive producer of the film. The movie is written and directed by Kumar Kattel (Jigri). The production team is optimistic about its success, as both the poster and teaser have been well received.
The cast includes Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus), Mukunda Shrestha, Mahesh Tripathi, Vijay Baral, Aparna Thapa, Renu Yogi, Kamalmani Nepal, Mala Limbu, and actors from Sakkigoni—Arjun Ghimire (Pandey), Sagar Lamsal (Bale), Harish Niraula (Krakroz), and Priyana Acharya (Munni).
Laaj Sharanam is set to release on Falgun 14 (Shivaratri festival). Produced under the JPT Creation banner, the film is produced by Naveen Shrestha, with Ram Naresh Shah and Srijana Khadka as co-producers. The cinematography is handled by Sudip Baral.
