The teaser, breakup poetry, and trailer of the upcoming film ‘Dukhi Aatma’, set to release on Falgun 2, have sparked significant discussions. After watching the promotional material for the film, people have started to share their various opinions.
Some have questioned why actor Daya Hang Rai chose to act in a film with such a storyline, while others have praised his decision, saying he has taken on a unique role. Reactions to the film’s trailer have come from various perspectives.
Daya shares, “We’ve only just started to open up about mental health. Family members are beginning to talk about health-related topics. Sexual health, on the other hand, is personal, and we tend to keep it private. However, it is a topic of concern. In India, it was only 40 years ago that such topics were addressed in films. I believe people need to be informed about this. Who you discuss it with is a personal choice.”
Daya also mentioned that he didn’t feel uncomfortable or hesitant while working on this film. He said, “Some of my friends have asked why I chose to do this film. They also ask how I felt doing it. But for me, it didn’t feel awkward at all. An actor’s choice of role is personal. In the past, I would watch films with my family, but this time, it might be different. It feels more comfortable that way.”
Daya argued that for a society to be beautiful, it must first be healthy. He said, “This is why I felt the need to take on this story and film. When the teaser came out, I had some disagreements because the film addresses much more than what was shown in the teaser. The dialogues in the film are more comprehensive. This is why the full storyline needs to be understood.”
Daya further revealed that when questions arose about the film’s content, he realized the importance of thinking from multiple angles before taking on such a role.
Written and directed by Dipendra Lama, ‘Dukhi Aatma’ stars Daya Hang Rai, Anchal Sharma, Anup Vikram Shahi, Buddi Tamang, and other actors. The film will release in theaters on Falgun 2.
