Eleena-Bishnu’s ‘Divorce’: Eleena Chooses Peace of Mind Over Property

Popular singer Eleena Chouhan has officially ended her marital relationship with Bishnu Sapkota.

After calling it quits with Bishnu, Eleena addressed him via a Facebook post, wishing him well for his future while also expressing her inner thoughts. In her post, she reflects on the memories of their wedding, including the seven rounds, vermilion, bangles, and the marriage knot, and she made it clear that she has chosen peace over property.

“From today, I am free and the path to legally pursue our separate destinies is open. I have left behind the rights to property that I would have gained as a wife for your progress and development. Wishing you all the best for the rest of your life, Bishnu,” she wrote on Facebook.

After the decision to end her marriage became certain, Eleena faced online ‘cyberbullying’ where she was accused of marrying Bishnu for Australian PR (permanent residency). In response to this, she clarified in her status that she chose peace of mind over property.

Here’s the Facebook status she wrote:

Dear Bishnu,

“When we circled the fire and took the seven rounds, my legs that were trembling still remain the same.
The vermilion on my forehead, and the marks of it, are still the same.
The bangles on my hands, adorned with your name, and the sounds of them are still the same.
The white marriage knot that tied us together is still the same.
The marriage certificate from the ward office is still as new as before.
But I’ve realized that the rounds, bangles, vermilion, marriage knot, marriage certificate, and physical union are not all that makes a marriage.
Emotional connection, mutual trust, and understanding are the essence of marriage.
These were lacking, and thus our relationship ended prematurely. This wasn’t a desire; it’s a compulsion that only you, me, and God know.
From today, the path is open for both of us to independently and legally pursue our destinies.
I’ve given up my rights to property as a wife for your growth and progress.
I wish you all the best for the rest of your life, Bishnu. (Magh 29)”
