The film Dukhi Aatma, which was released in Nepal on Friday, has been receiving excellent responses from the audience.
Most viewers who watched the movie in theaters praised its storyline, the performances of the actors, and its overall presentation. They appreciated the film’s unique narrative and encouraged others to watch it.
However, audiences in the UAE will not be able to watch the film, as it failed to pass the censorship board there.
Director and writer Dipendra Lama revealed that the movie did not get approval even after undergoing the censorship process twice.
After failing the first censorship review, the board had asked for some scenes to be cut. However, even after making the necessary edits and resubmitting the film for approval, it was still rejected.
The filmmakers stated that the movie did not fit within the UAE’s media content guidelines, leading to its censorship failure. The UAE Media Council is responsible for approving films in the country.
Since the movie did not pass UAE’s censorship, it will also not be released in Bahrain. This is because Bahrain follows the UAE’s censorship decisions.
On the other hand, Dukhi Aatma successfully passed Qatar’s censorship without any cuts. The film has already been released in Qatar as of Friday.
Starring Dayahang Rai, Aanchal Sharma, Anup Bikram Shahi, Buddhi Tamang, and Rear Rai, Dukhi Atma tells the story of men suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED). The movie is produced by Himal Kadayat, with Sudip Dhakal as the executive producer.
