Eight talents have been selected from the Hong Kong auditions of the popular singing and dancing reality shows ‘My Voice Universe’ and ‘My Dance Universe’ Season 2 to compete in the upcoming competition to be held in Kathmandu.
The auditions for these reality shows, organized by Intra-National Welfare and Support Foundation of America in Nepal, took place on February 15 at the Blue Ocean Restaurant’s conference hall in Jordan, Hong Kong.
The auditions for both reality shows were coordinated by Khusi Gurung, the Managing Director of Khusi Events, Suku Limbu, the owner of United Dance Studio, and Sofia Gurung, the founder of Divine Dance Studio. From the auditions, five talents were selected in the singing category: Topraj Tamang, Dikesh Tamang, Saurabh Pakhryn Tamang, Anup Kumar Baraili, and Binny Lama Rai. In the dance category, five talents were selected: Rista Gurung, Yubika Rana, Ayushma Rai, Diksha Gurung, and Anjali Pun. A total of 22 participants, including 14 dancers and 8 singers, took part in the auditions.
In the singing category, Hong Kong-based singers Sarla Gurung and Manoj Gurung were the judges, while in the dance category, the judging panel included Shankar Bisi, a dance director and model from the USA, and Yugel Pomu, a Hong Kong-based choreographer and the founder of the Miss Limbu Beauty Contest.
The auditions were conducted by Ashmi Gurung, and along with the judges, the event was also attended by members of the organizing body Intra, including Roshan Bisht, Lal Bahadur Tiwari, Sonu Tamang, and Athiraj Shivakoti.
This international-level Nepali singing and dancing reality show will award substantial cash prizes to the winners. The winners of both shows will receive a cash prize of one crore rupees, while the second and third-place winners will receive 25 lakhs and 10 lakhs, respectively.
Under ‘My Dance Universe’, the group dance performed at the beginning of each episode will also be competitive, with the winning team receiving 20 lakh rupees, the runner-up team getting 10 lakh, and the third-place team receiving 5 lakh rupees as cash prizes.
The show is progressing with auditions being held in various major cities around the world. The first edition of this show was held in 2023. This year’s ‘My Voice Universe’ will have Deep Shrestha, Suresh Adhikari, Shiv Pariyar, Pushpan Pradhan, and Anju Pant as judges, while the judging panel for ‘My Dance Universe’ will include Mithila Sharma, Dilip Rayamajhi, Shilpa Maske, Shankar Bisi, Kabiraj Gahatraj, and Kiran Thapa.
Earlier, on February 13, a Meet and Greet event was held at Blue Ocean Restaurant in Hong Kong, organized by the event organizers. The program was attended by various district presidents and heads of organizations from different ethnic communities.
