The popular Nepali folk-pop band Kandara is set to perform for the first time in Ilam. On the occasion of Gyalo Lhosar, the band will be performing at Karphok Playground, located in Ward 12 of Suryaoday Municipality, today, Friday.
The concert is organized by the Suryaoday Hotel Business Association and co-organized by the Karphok Youth Family. Association president Prajwal Pradhan mentioned that the concert aims to promote local tourism through the band.
He said, “Kandara, after 32 years of its establishment, is on a world tour under the theme ‘Pahila Ghar Desh Ani Pardesh’ (First Home Country, Then Abroad). This band will contribute to promoting our town.”
The band’s leader and lead singer, Vivek Shrestha, also expressed his excitement. He shared that the band is thrilled to be performing in Ilam for the first time in their 32-year history.
He said, “Concerts in such historic places are quite rare. We might be the second band to perform here. We have fans coming from places like Sikkim and Darjeeling in India as well, which makes this concert feel historic.”
He added that Karphok has the potential to become a concert hub. “Being close to Kanayam, this place might turn into a concert hub. I believe it will also contribute to our internal tourism. Once again, I feel everyone will embrace Kandara in their hearts.”
