Bhuthan Brings Heartfelt Song ‘Kagajko Khosto’, Here’s Why It’s So Touching

The much-awaited film ‘Bhuthan’ by Haribansha Acharya has released the song Kagajko Khosto.

The song features the voice of Pushpan Pradhan, lyrics and narration by Navraj Parajuli, music arrangement by Rhythm Kandel, and editing by Sunil Shivbhakti. The song speaks about the sorrow of an expatriate who has not been able to return home. It was released on Navraj Parajuli’s YouTube channel.

This song seems to have a strong emotional impact on the audience and listeners. The song depicts the struggles of millions of Nepali-speaking Bhutanese refugees forcibly displaced from their homeland, Bhuthan. In the song, actor Harivansh Acharya gives a collective voice to those Nepali-speaking Bhutanese who have been resettled in countries like the United States. The song resonates deeply with all expatriates living away from their homes, invoking a longing for home and a desire to once again visit their village or homeland.

The lyrics of the song convey the poignant feelings of a character who, being away from home, expresses that dying without returning home and being pursued by fate is unbearable. The song showcases Harivansh Acharya’s lively acting, and Susant Prajapati’s remarkable cinematography adds to the emotional depth of the song.

This film, titled The World’s Happiest Man in English, stars Harivansh Acharya, Dayahang Rai, Anuradha Majumdar, Pooja Chand-Lama, Richa Ghimire, Joesh Pandey, Aditi Pyakuriel, Tom Crane, Bimal Suvedi, and Hollywood’s internationally renowned actor Bruce Dern in a special role. It is the first Nepali film produced under the SAG-AFTRA umbrella, with some Hollywood technicians also contributing to its production.

The film Bhuthan, The World’s Happiest Man presents the story of Bhutanese immigrants who, after leaving their homeland, experience a deep sense of patriotism and the sorrow of losing their home.

Directed by Vinod Poudel, known for his film Bulbul, the producers of Bhuthan are Abeeral Thapa, Sushank Mainali, Rajendra Thakurathi, Amitabh Joshi, and Kirtana Banskota. The executive producers are Bikash Bhito Adhikari, Kaushila Khanal, Ramesh Bhatt, and Apar Shrestha. The cinematography is by Susan Prajapati, editing by Anjay Khadka, sound by Dikkesh Khadgi Shahi, music by Samvaran Kem, casting by Surya Shahi, publicity design by Ujjwal Shrestha, production design by Bimal Subedi, and art direction by Anjan Gajurel, a renowned Hollywood art director.

The film is produced by Thakurathi Bros, Vacant Light, Everest Entertainment in collaboration with Awaken Production in Nepal and Mad Monkey Films in the USA.

The film is scheduled for release on Baisakh 12, 2082 (April 25, 2025).
