The grand red carpet premiere of the movie ‘Anjila’, which is set to release nationwide on Falgun 29, was held in Dharan. The premiere at Friends Cinemas in Dharan on Friday saw an enthusiastic presence of the film’s team, filmmakers, players, journalists, and local audiences.
This movie, based on the life of Nepal Women’s National Football Team captain and goalkeeper Anjila Tumbapo Subba, has already had successful premieres in Hong Kong, Korea, and the UK. The premiere in Dharan, the first in Nepal, further fueled the audience’s excitement. The hall, decorated with grandeur and a red carpet, was filled with audiences eagerly awaiting the film.
The premiere was attended by producer and actor Prem Kumar Shrestha, co-producers Vinod Agrawal, Rajesh Bagdia, and director Milan Chams. However, the film’s lead actress Anjila Tumbapo Subba and other main cast members were unable to attend due to their work commitments. Notably, actor Prakash Subba and child artist Namiksha Magar were present. Alongside Anjila, the movie features prominent performances by Prem Kumar Shrestha, Dayahang Rai, Sunil Thapa, Vijay Baral, Srijana Subba, Mao Tse Gurung, and Buddhi Tamang.
After watching the movie, the audience was deeply moved. Many were seen crying in the theater, especially due to Anjila’s story of struggle, which touched everyone’s heart. The audience praised the film and applauded director Milan Chams for his excellent direction.
Pratap Tamang, president of Dharan Football Club, mentioned that the film depicts the real struggles of Nepali athletes. Young viewers shared that they saw themselves and their families in the film. Child artist Namiksha Magar mentioned that she also cried after seeing Anjila’s struggle in the movie.
The positive reactions from the audience greatly encouraged the film’s team. Producer Shrestha expressed that he was moved by the audience’s love and support, while director Chams shared that he, too, became emotional when the audience cried. This is Chams’ third biographical film; he had previously directed ‘Blind Rocks’ and ‘Bobby’.
The film was shot in various locations including Anjila’s hometown in Ilam, Aitabare, Jhapa, and Kathmandu. The cinematography was done by Sudip Baral, while the editing was handled by Milan Shrestha. Produced under the banner of Moon Love Entertainment, the film is produced by Prem Kumar Shrestha. Executive producer is Vinod Agrawal, while Tuber Limbu and Rajesh Bagdia are co-producers.
