
The weekend opening of the Nepali film ‘Hostel 3’, released on Friday, has been quite promising.
On Friday, theaters across the country had about 50% occupancy, and by Saturday morning, many theaters had full occupancy, with some reaching 80 to 90 percent, according to distributor Govinda Shahi in the Kathmandu Valley. Similarly, distributor Rohit Kattel, outside of the Kathmandu Valley, mentioned that the film has achieved greater success than expected.
Meanwhile, the cast members of the film have been visiting theaters in Kathmandu since Saturday morning to meet the audience. Fans have been enthusiastically cheering for the actors, carrying them away, while the actors themselves have been joyfully responding with loud cheers.
The audience has expressed that ‘Hostel 3’ is much better than expected and that they received full entertainment. Cast members like Paras Bam “Coolboy”, Simran Pant, Padam Tamang, Ashish Ghimire, Hena Nagarkoti, Santosh Baniya, Sama Parajuli, William PN, and director Sashan Kandel have been visiting theaters, taking photos and videos while interacting with fans.
Director Sashan Kandel expressed his happiness for receiving unexpected love from the audience in his directorial debut. He said, “The film has had promising business within just two days, but for me, the biggest achievement is the love and positive feedback from the audience. While business is important, what matters more is how the audience embraces the film.”
According to him, ‘Hostel 3’ has successfully provided full entertainment to the audience. “I believe this success is not just mine but the result of the hard work of the entire team. I hope the love for Nepali cinema continues,” Kandel added.
Madhav Sharma wrote the screenplay and dialogues and also served as the associate director. The film is produced by Suresh Kandel, Karn Karki, and Govinda Adhikari, with co-producers Shishir Gyawali, Anish Sigdel, Kundan Gupta, and Ganesh Magar. Shankar Koirala is the executive producer, and Kosis Raj Chhetri is the line producer.
The film’s cinematography was directed by Arjun Tiwari, and the editing was done by Devkesh Dahal. Himal KC is the action director.
The music was composed by Arjun Pokharel, Almora Rana Upreti, Mahesh Gyawali, and Kiran Michael. The production design was done by Yam Oli, while Praveen Singh and Roshan Bishwokarma handled the dance direction. The film’s distribution in the Kathmandu Valley is handled by Kaphia Films (Govinda Shahi), and outside the valley, by RR Films (Rohit Kattel, Ratna Shrestha).
