
Bindabasini Foundation has announced five honors under the 15th Bindabasini Music Awards 2081, which it is set to organize.
On Saturday, the foundation held a discussion program at Indreni Suite Hotel in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, during its 11th assembly and the 15th Bindabasini Music Awards 2081. After extensive deliberation, the foundation finalized and approved the names of music professionals and journalists for various honors and awards.
The assembly decided that the Rumpum Bindabasini Music Awards 2081, presented by Muktinath Bikas Bank, will be held on Chaitra 28 (April 10, 2025) at Rastriya Nach Ghar, Jamal, Kathmandu. During the meeting, the advisory committee, comprising lyricists Kiran Kharel and Dinesh Adhikari and music composers Deepak Jangam and Shakti Ballav, recommended lyricist Rajendra Thapa for the Bindabasini Music Lifetime Achievement Award, which includes a cash prize of NPR 100,000.
The advisory committee also recommended:
Bindabasini Sangeet Sadhana Samman (NPR 50,000) for singer Sangeeta Shakya.
Prem Dhoj Sangeet Ratna Samman, established in honor of the legendary singer Prem Dhoj Pradhan (NPR 25,000), for singer Nisha Deshar.
Jhalakman Lok-Sangeet Samman 2081, established in memory of folk singer Jhalakman Gandharva, for singer Sirish Devkota.
Following the discussions, lyricist Dinesh Adhikari proposed the names for the honors.
Similarly, this year’s Bindabasini Art Journalism Honor, which includes NPR 25,000, was recommended for journalist Sharda Thapa. The head of the committee, journalist Bidur Giri, announced the recommendations after deliberation. The assembly approved all the recommended names.
The foundation has been organizing a special gathering of music professionals and journalists before each award ceremony, ensuring that the nominations are approved by relevant experts before the final announcement. During the meeting, foundation secretary Parmananda Khanal hosted the session, while foundation director Subas Regmi expressed gratitude to everyone who has supported the 15-year journey of artist recognition and assured that this year’s ceremony would be even more grand.
