
Cinema halls will face penalties if they sell water and food at prices exceeding the Maximum Retail Price (MRP).
In a press release, the Department of Commerce, Supply, and Consumer Protection warned that legal action would be taken against those found charging above the MRP.
“The discussion was held in the context of making the market clean and competitive and protecting consumers’ rights,” the department stated in the release following the discussion.
On Monday, there was a discussion and interaction between the department and the Nepal Film Producers Association regarding this issue.
Additionally, the department mentioned in its release that market monitoring teams have been deployed to intensify market inspections targeted at upcoming festivals.
