
The producers of the Nepali film ‘Hostel 3’, which was released for public screening last Friday, have revealed its first-week earnings. According to the released data, the film has earned a gross collection of 4.32 crore by Thursday.
Sashan Kandel, the director and also the operator of the production company, Samman Entertainment, stated that the commercial data was based on the distributor’s DCR report. “The trade report given by the distributor is official. The report from the distributor shows a gross collection of 4.32 crore by Thursday,” Kandel said. According to him, the film has earned 2.3 crore in the Kathmandu Valley and 2.02 crore outside the valley.
The film has been distributed in Kathmandu by Kafiya Films, led by Govinda Shahi, and outside the valley by RR Films, led by Rohit Kattel and Ratna Shrestha. Despite the release of three other Nepali films, ‘Hostel 3’ has not faced a reduction in the number of shows in theaters. In some theaters, ‘Hostel 3’ has more shows than the new releases.
Meanwhile, ‘Hostel 3’ has also been released in Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain, from Thursday, where the audience turnout has been impressive.
Even with the release of ‘Non Holiday’, audiences have packed the theaters. Targeting the youth, the film has attracted the main audience group of Nepali cinema. Featuring popular faces from the digital age, the movie stars Paras Bam Thakuri, Simran Pant, Ashish Ghimire, Padam Tamang, Hena Nagar Koti, Rihan Giri, Sama Parajuli, and others in key roles. Praveen Khatiwada plays the role of the warden. Ashish Purush, Rohan Shrestha, Umar Khan, and Santosh Baniya also appear in the film.
The screenplay and dialogue writing, as well as associate direction, were done by Madhav Sharma. The film’s producers are Suresh Kandel, Karn Karki, and Govinda Adhikari, while the co-producers are Shishir Gwali, Anish Sigdel, Kundan Gupta, and Ganesh Magar. Shankar Koirala is the executive producer, and Kosis Raj Khetri is the line producer.
