The trailer of the Nepali film Dori, set to release on Chaitra 15 (March 28), has been officially unveiled. The trailer was launched on Sunday at a special event held at INI Cinemas, New Baneshwor, Kathmandu.
The event was attended by writer, director, and lead actor Arun Lama, actress Anjana Baraili, actors Pravin Khatiwada, Shishir Bangdel, Sajan Shrestha, Birendra Singh Kushwaha, Raj Poudel, Raj Thapa, Nutan, Sharda Adhikari, and Rambabu Regmi, along with composer and singer Rajanraj Siwakoti and various technical crew members.
The trailer focuses on the film’s title, Dori (meaning “rope”), with almost all the characters linked to it. It portrays Dori as a powerful element that everyone is searching for. The story highlights the unfolding events related to this search, while also depicting family and social challenges.
Some thrilling and horror elements are included in the trailer. Director Arun Lama compared the blend of thriller and horror to adding chutney to dal-bhat-tarkari (a traditional Nepali meal) to enhance its taste. He further stated, “This story is entirely social and, in some way, connects with everyone’s life.” Previously released posters hinted that Dori could belong to the thriller and horror genre. However, the film’s song “Chuche Dhunga” showcased Aryan Sigdel and Anjana Baraili in a romantic avatar, adding another dimension to the film.
Dori is written and directed by Arun Lama, who also plays the lead role. The film stars Pravin Khatiwada, Shishir Bangdel, Prakash Ghimire, Arun Lama, Anjana Baraili, Raj Poudel, Kavita Ale, Nutan, Raj Thapa, and Birendra Singh Kushwaha in key roles.
The film is produced by Dinesh Bhattarai, with Raj Thapa serving as the executive producer. The screenplay doctor is Manoj Pandit, while Dinesh Bahadur Rawat is the chief assistant director. Other key crew members include action director Raju Tamang, music director Rajanraj Siwakoti, art director Roshan Diwana, editor Milan Shrestha, and color coordinator Renish Fago.
