
The trailer for the upcoming Nepali web series “Ghar But in America”, which is set to become the first professionally released series via an OTT platform for Nepali audiences, was unveiled on Wednesday during an event held in Kathmandu. The series will be available on the Nepali OTT platform MSM Video, and the trailer reflects the story of a Nepali family living in the United States.
Produced under the banner of Seven Colors Digital, the series is scheduled to release all 12 episodes at once during the second week of the current Nepali New Year 2082 (mid to late April 2025). Entirely filmed in the U.S., the situational comedy-drama portrays the lives of Nepali parents living in America and their daughter who is in a live-in relationship, highlighting their lifestyle and emotional dynamics.
At the trailer launch event, director and lead actor Bimalesh Adhikari shared the motivation behind the project, saying, “As more and more Nepalis settle in the U.S., it felt necessary to depict the experiences and lifestyle changes we go through on screen. That’s what inspired this series.” According to him, the series will not only entertain but also connect audiences with themes of identity and the realities of immigrant life.
The series also marks the return of actress Arunima Lamsal to acting after nearly a decade. Other key cast members include Radhababu Lamsal, Khem Sharma, Ashish Dahal, and Rozina Thapa.
Produced by Roshan Ghimire, the series also features co-producers Sumitra Adhikari and Kumari Ghimire. The story, screenplay, and dialogues are written by Bibek Chamlagain. The editor is Mitra D. Gurung, color grading by Kapil Parajuli, cinematography by Vikrant Man Shrestha, sound design by Amit Shrestha, and background score by Bisham Acharya. Makeup artists include Apsara Katuwal and Sapana Dangol, the poster was designed by Shan Thapa, and post-production was handled by Nepalese Hands. Assistant editors are Sudip Pandey and Milan Shah, with assistant cinematography by Bishal Man Shrestha and Pashupati Basyal.
