Grand Premiere of Nepali Film Khel Held

The grand premiere of the upcoming Nepali film Khel, slated for release this Friday, was successfully held in Kathmandu. The event took place on Wednesday evening at QFX Cinema, Chhaya Center, and was attended by the film’s cast, media representatives, well-wishers, and film industry professionals.

Lead actors of Khel including Saugat Malla, Henna Nagarkoti, Monika Thapa, Nikita Acharya, and Samapika Gautam were present at the premiere. Director Anurag Pradhan flew in from India specifically for the event, while co-director Astha Shrestha and other members of the production team were also in attendance.

Director Pradhan shared that he applied knowledge gained from Bollywood to elevate the quality of the Nepali film. Lead actress Saugat Panta expressed her belief in the film’s success, stating that it reflects heartfelt storytelling by the younger generation. She shared that the team’s spirits were uplifted by the positive feedback received.

​Khel, a mythical suspense thriller, has been praised for its storyline, screenplay, dialogue, cinematography, editing, color grading, and overall tone—drawing comparisons to the standard of Hollywood thrillers. Newcomers, alongside seasoned actors, were commended for their performances. The film has also been applauded for its powerful blend of Nepali mythology, mystery, and modern psychology.

The film features performances by Mithila Sharma, Bhola Raj Sapkota, Sarita Giri, and Kiran Shrestha, among others. Khel is jointly directed by Anurag Pradhan and Astha Shrestha and produced under the banner of Sirupate Cuts Pvt. Ltd. Producers include Luiraj Maharjan and Ashishraj Maharjan, with Kunalraj Gurung and Rahishraj Maharjan serving as co-producers.

The story is penned by Ashishraj Maharjan, while the screenplay was written by Abhitendra and Anurag Pradhan.

The film’s cinematography is handled by Roshan Rai and Sanjay Lama, and editing by Ashishraj Maharjan. Sound design is by Bikal Pradhan, color grading by Rajendra Moktan, production design by Kishor Nepal, costume design by Alex Basukala, and makeup by Dipu Paudel. Yam Prasad Oli served as the production manager.

The film’s distribution is being managed by DCN, and publicity design by Trident Concept.
