
The shooting of the film Maitighar started on Thursday.
According to producer Rohit Adhikari, the filming began with an auspicious ceremony in Takam village of Myagdi. A puja was performed at the local Ganesh temple to mark the occasion.
As per Adhikari, filming will take place in Takam and Dharapani villages for 20 days, followed by another 20 days in the Tatopani area of Darbang.
Chairperson of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality, Prem Prasad Pun, was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony. He expressed happiness, stating that this is the first time a film is being shot in the village.
Chairperson Pun believes the film will play an important role in promoting tourism in the area.
At the ceremony, Ward No. 7 Chairperson Ashok Khatri cracked a coconut to mark the occasion. He also remarked that if the film is properly promoted, it could contribute to the village’s development.
Before the ceremony, the film team was welcomed into the village with traditional music and celebration.
The cast of the film includes Kedar Ghimire, Dhiraj Magar, Prakash Saput, Upasana Singh Thakuri, Shyamashree Sherpa, Buddhi Tamang, Shishir Wangdel, among others.
The film, directed by Milan Tamang, will have cinematography by Susan Prajapati. The production team has announced plans to release the film during the Dashain festival, starting from Phulpati (the seventh day of Dashain).
The film is being produced under the banner of Rohit Adhikari Films, with additional investments from Rabin Sherchan and Dhiraj Tamang. Ishwor Shrestha and Niraj Katuwal are the executive producers.
The film will depict a story based on Tamang culture. The producers are planning a 40-day shooting schedule. Previously, producer Adhikari’s films Gajalu, Chhakka Panja, and Farki Farki were well-received by audiences.
