
The much-anticipated song Lalumai from the upcoming Nepali film Mahabhoj, set to release on Jestha 15 (May 28), has been officially released. The song was launched amid a special event held on Sunday, with a strong presence of film unit members and journalists.
Featuring vocals by acclaimed director and actor Nischal Basnet and singer Asmita Adhikari, the song includes lyrics by Hark Saud, music by Kosis Kshetri and Ketan Kshetri, arrangement by Pushkar Khatri, and production by Ketan Kshetri himself.
The music video showcases vibrant dance performances by lead actors Dayahang Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Malika Mahat, Gaumaya Gurung, and singer Nischal Basnet. Choreographer Sunil Kshetri has presented the song in a fun and captivating style. Model Kamal Singh makes a special appearance as a groom marrying Malika Mahat.
The music video is set in the context of a wedding celebration, reflecting the joyous atmosphere among family, friends, and villagers.
Speaking at the release event, director Dinesh Raut stated that Mahabhoj portrays the reality of class struggle in Nepali society, and the familial, social, and moral pressures created by money.
The cast members present at the event shared their experiences from filming the movie and the song. Notably, Dayahang and Khagendra expressed that although they are not trained dancers, they enjoyed performing in Mahabhoj‘s songs.
Nischal Basnet, who both sang and danced in the song, said that his renewed collaboration with director Dinesh Raut has been exciting.
Both Nischal and Dinesh began their directorial careers in 2012 and had previously worked together in the 2017 film Parva, where Nischal sang and danced in the popular song Kale Dai.
Mahabhoj is produced under the joint banners of Clock Work Creation and Picture Frame. The film is set for a simultaneous release in Nepal and various other countries.
The film features performances by Aryan Sigdel, Dayahang Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Gaumaya Gurung, Malika Mahat, Basundhara Bhusal, Mohan Niraula, Buddhi Tamang, Kamalmani Nepal, Pushkar Gurung, Binod Neupane, Abha Aryal, and Birendra Singh Kushwaha, among others.
The film is produced by Himal Kadariya, with the story and screenplay written by Subedi.
