The grand premiere of the Nepali film Unko Sweater, which is set to release worldwide from Friday, took place on Wednesday evening at Big Movies in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu.
The premiere, attended by over a thousand guests, including artists, politicians, journalists, and well-wishers, reflected high enthusiasm for the film.
Notable personalities at the premiere included Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, RPP Nepal president Rajendra Lingdel, MPs Shobita Gautam and Vinita Khatayat, Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Karki, actor Dayahang Rai, actresses Keki Adhikari, Anjana Baraily, and others. Key members of the film unit, including lead actors Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Parisha Limbu, Alex Paras, Wilson Vikram Rai, and director Naveen Chouhan, were also present.
After watching the film, the guests shared highly positive feedback. Deputy Speaker Rana Magar praised the film for presenting the deep emotions of love. “The film beautifully shows that love can only happen when you win someone’s heart,” she said. Actor Dayahang Rai described the film as ‘an amazing creation,’ stating that all aspects were excellent. MP Shobita Gautam admired the visuals, social context, and storyline of the film. Actress Keki Adhikari mentioned that Unko Sweater is one of the best love stories she has seen, giving special praise to director Naveen Chouhan’s work.
The film’s actors were also moved. Bipin Karki expressed being overwhelmed by the audience’s love, while Miruna Magar said she was successful in receiving warm affection from the viewers. Alex Paras, excited by the positive reaction to his first film, shared his thoughts. Parisha Limbu shared her experience of fully immersing herself in her character. Music director and singer Sujan Chapagai thanked everyone who attended the premiere and stated that from Friday, the film would be in the hands of the audience.
Director Naveen Chouhan said, “The reactions have been very warm. It’s hard to express these emotional reactions in words.”
The advance ticket sales for Unko Sweater have already begun in cinemas across the country. According to distributor Govinda Shahi, more than 300 shows have been booked nationwide, which is a significant number for the film’s business.
Songs like “Phool,” “Makhmali,” and “Kafle,” directed by Sujan Chapagai and Jhuma Limbu, have gained notable popularity on social media. The trailer and teaser have already captured the attention of the audience.
Produced under the banner of Artmandu Pvt. Ltd., Unko Sweater features actors Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Parisha Limbu, Alex Paras, Wilson Vikram Rai, along with Sunil Pokhrel, Mao Tse Gurung, Prem Subba, Suraj Tamu, Sharda Devi Silwal, Bhavna Khapangi Magar, and others. Shot in the regions of Panchthar and Phalelung, the film seeks to portray the diversity of Nepali society and a love story, according to director Chouhan. The film has received a universal certificate from the censor board.
