he Nepali film Unko Sweater, set to be released nationwide this Friday, has already garnered significant enthusiasm from audiences even before its official screening. Judging by the status of advance ticket bookings, it is evident that the film is heading toward a strong opening.

In particular, most shows in cinema halls across eastern Nepal are nearly sold out, and even in Kathmandu Valley—at multiplexes like QFX (Labim Mall, Civil Mall, Radhe Radhe in Bhaktapur), Big Movies, and Fcube—as well as theaters outside the valley, ticket sales have been very encouraging, according to the distributor. Theaters have also increased the number of shows in response to high audience demand. Distributor Gobinda Shahi stated that starting Friday, Woolen Sweater will be screened in over 300 shows across the country.

Previously, a grand premiere was held on Wednesday evening at Big Movies in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu. The event showcased strong enthusiasm among viewers and distinguished guests. Attendees included Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, RPP Nepal Chair Rajendra Lingden, Members of Parliament Shobita Gautam and Vinita Kathayat, Asim Shah, Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Karki, actor Dayahang Rai, actresses Keki Adhikari and Anjana Baraili, among other prominent figures. All attendees gave positive feedback after watching the film.

The film stars Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Parikshya Limbu, Alex Paras, Wilson Bikram Rai, Suraj Tamu, Bhawana Khapangi Magar, and Sunil Pokharel in lead roles. Shot in the regions of Panchthar and Phalelung, the film aims to capture the diversity of Nepali society and a heartfelt love story, according to director Navin Chauhan. He mentioned that the sincere reactions from the premiere audience gave him a sense of warmth.

Songs like “Phool,” “Makhmali,” and “Kafle,” composed and directed by Sujan Chapagain and Jhuma Limbu, have already gained notable popularity on social media. Through its trailer and teaser, the film has successfully attracted public attention.

Having received a Universal Certificate from the Censor Board, Woolen Sweater now awaits to see how much love it will receive from audiences starting Friday. However, based on the current responses, the film is expected to have a promising start at the Nepali box office.
