The American Film Market (AFM), held annually, is one of the world’s largest film industry trade events. This year, the 45th edition took place from November 5-10 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, attracting participants from over 80 countries. The event hosted more than 100 speakers who shared insights on various aspects of the film industry, including production, distribution, technology, AI, streaming, and storytelling. With over 6,000 attendees, it is a prime venue for filmmakers to network, pitch projects, and secure deals.
While AFM usually remains beyond the reach of many Nepali filmmakers, this year saw the participation of renowned Nepali editor Nishan Ghimire. Representing his company, Rad Studio, Nishan networked with international filmmakers, including those from Italy, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Hollywood, and Bollywood. He discussed Nepal’s unique storytelling, technology, and filming locations, sparking interest among global filmmakers.
Nishan shared that his experience at AFM will be invaluable for future projects and that he is committed to promoting Nepali films on an international platform. According to him, this exposure will help Nepali cinema collaborate with other global industries and adopt the latest technologies, thereby expanding its reach.
Previously, Nishan also participated in the ‘Focus 2023: Meet the Makers’ conference in London. With over two decades of experience, he is one of Nepal’s leading film and music video editors, known for elevating production quality. His work has not only enhanced the visual appeal of projects but also contributed to their commercial success.
Nishan’s skills have helped establish many directors in the Nepali industry, and his acclaimed editing work has earned him multiple national awards. As both a skilled editor and a budding director, Nishan aims to take Nepali cinema to new heights on the global stage.
His contributions are paving the way for the international recognition of Nepali films, culture, and artistry.
