Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi’ Smashes All-Time Box Office Records in Nepal

The film Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi has shattered the box office record previously held by Kabaddi 4.

Two years ago, Kabaddi 4 claimed the record for the highest-grossing Nepali film, with a reported earning of NPR 235 million (23.5 crores). However, it took only 13 days for Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi to surpass this milestone.

According to distributor Vankates Entertainment, the film has already grossed over NPR 250 million (25 crores) as of Tuesday. However, the Film Development Board has yet to officially release its box office report.

Rathi, one of the film’s representatives, mentioned that on Tuesday alone, the film grossed NPR 20.5 million. He also predicted that the film would cross the NPR 20 million mark again on Wednesday. If the current pace continues, industry insiders speculate that the film could easily reach the NPR 300 million (30 crores) milestone. Alongside breaking the revenue record, the film is also on its way to becoming the most profitable Nepali film ever.

Additionally, the movie set records for the highest number of shows and daily earnings. Starting with over 450 shows at the end of its first week, the film earned NPR 38.9 million (3.89 crores) on the second Saturday alone, setting a new record for the highest single-day box office collection.

Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi has broken nearly all previous records. Initially, during its first two days of release, theaters saw disappointing footfall.

However, after emotional audience reactions to the film started going viral on platforms like TikTok, cinema halls began experiencing an unprecedented surge in viewers.

The demand has been so high that Nepali theaters have extended their hours, with some even staying open late into the night. Despite this, many viewers have struggled to secure tickets.

The film’s overwhelming success has even sidelined major Bollywood releases featuring stars like Ajay Devgn and Kartik Aaryan.

As a result, the release date of QFX’s Missing – Keti Harayeko Suchana was postponed, while the distributor decided not to release the much-anticipated film Kanguva in Nepal as planned this Thursday.

Directed by Saroj Poudel, Purna Bahadur Ko Sarangi is an emotional story centered around a father-son relationship. The film stars Vijay Baral, Prakash Saput, Anjana Baraili, and Mukun Bhusal, among others.
