Police have arrested two individuals involved in a series of laptop thefts from various boys’ hostels in Kathmandu.
The suspects, identified as Bhim Bahadur Singh (21) and Kumbh Raj Upadhyay (21), were taken into custody on Kartik 30, 2081 (November 15, 2024), along with five stolen laptops. The duo hails from Chhabis Pathibhara, Ward No. 3, Bajhang District but were currently residing in Kathmandu.
According to the authorities, the two suspects entered hostels under the guise of visiting relatives and stole valuable electronics.
The police were able to apprehend the suspects with the stolen items and have forwarded them to the Baneshwor Police Circle for further investigation and legal action.
Details of the Thefts:
On Kartik 24, 2081, from Subhasi Boys Hostel, Subidhanagar, Ward No. 32, a laptop belonging to Birat Paudel (Acer brand) was stolen.
On Kartik 17, 2081, from Banglamukhi Hostel in Tinkune, Ward No. 32, a guitar and an Apple MacBook were stolen.
On Kartik 28, 2081, from Generation Boys Hostel, Shankhamul, Ward No. 10, two laptops (Lenovo and Acer) were stolen.

The police investigation revealed that the suspects targeted hostels across Kathmandu Valley by pretending to visit acquaintances. The stolen items have been recovered, and further investigation is ongoing to determine if they are linked to other similar crimes.
