‘Dashain Aayo’ Directed by Shilpa KC Wins Short Film Competition

The short film Dashain Aayo, directed by Shilpa KC, has won first place in the short film competition organized by Oscar College of Film Studies. Along with the win, the film received a cash prize of NPR 100,000.

In the competition, The Bridge by Arjun Tiruwa secured second place, while Antim Yatra by Bishal Jha came third. The second-place winner received NPR 50,000, and the third-place winner received NPR 25,000 in cash prizes.

Paper Bonds by Devanandan Mandal was awarded Special Mention. Before the announcement of winners, the final nine shortlisted short films were screened.

The competition, targeted at individuals under 20 years of age, required participants to submit films between 8 and 15 minutes in length. The submission deadline was set for the first week of Kartik.

Principal of Oscar College, Ramraja Dahal, stated that over 20 films were submitted for the competition, out of which the top nine were shortlisted. He emphasized that the program aims to encourage emerging talent and provide opportunities for creative individuals in filmmaking.

He said, “Filmmaking is an incredibly creative field, and since the minds of young people are highly imaginative, we initiated this competition to support and nurture their potential.”

Additionally, the college announced that filmmakers whose projects secured first, second, third, or Special Mention awards would receive a 50% scholarship if they choose to enroll at the college.
