Laxman’s ‘Satidevi’ Declared Special Film of 2080, An Ode to Gender Equality

The film Satidevi, which carries the message that daughters are as valuable as sons, has been declared the Special Film of 2080 BS.

Directed by Laxman Subedi, the film is produced by Subedi himself, who is also a prominent name in entertainment journalism.

During the National Film Awards ceremony held at Shital Niwas on Wednesday, President Ramchandra Paudel presented the award to Subedi.

In the same category, the Limbu-language film Sugup and the Gurung-language film Martali were also recognized as special films.

Each of these three special films received a cash prize of NPR 200,000 during the event. The Film Development Board announced that the prize money would be used for subtitling the films.
