The film Karsang, slated for release on January 10 (Poush 26), has unveiled its teaser.
The teaser showcases themes like rural poverty, hardships brought by childlessness, and the conflicts that arise in a strained marital life.
It hints at how poverty drives people to be ridiculed by their own family and society, with Karsang presenting this narrative.
The movie features Daya Hang Rai, debut actress Srijana Ninglekhu, Jitu Nepal, Diya Maskey, and Buddhi Tamang in lead roles, alongside other actors like Srishti Gautam, Doma Hyolmo, Prem Lopchan, Surbir Pandit, Kavita Ale, Karma Sherpa, Choki Sherpa, Sabhya Deep Gautam, Bimal Puri, Dilip Pant, Chiring Sherpa, Pawan Kumar Gole, and Amrit Sherpa. Child artists Rashi Limbu and Sohan Thapa also have significant roles.
Directed by debutant Yam Sherpa, the film revolves around the Sherpa community and its cultural nuances, with the story penned by the director himself.
The songs in the film are written by Hark Saud and DP Khanal, with music composed by Manoj Thapa Magar, SD Yogi, and Bisho Dong. Singers include Manoj Thapa Magar, SD Yogi, Reshma Pun Magar, Bisho Dong, Sunita Thegim, Subani Moktan, Asman Lopchan, and Palmu Sherpa.
Produced under the banners of Yarsa Films and Purushottam Pradhan Films, Karsang is produced and shot by Purushottam Pradhan, who also serves as the film’s cinematographer. Co-produced by Govinda Bohara, the film’s executive producer is Ang Chiring Sherpa, with Birendra Shahi as the line producer.
The movie boasts editing by Bhupendra Adhikari, color grading by Manoranjan Shrestha, teaser and trailer by Sahil Khan, makeup by Raju Tamang, choreography by Abhi Lama, sound by Mukesh Shah, and assistant direction by Sudeep Kunwar, Ram Kumar Shrestha, and Yogendra Karki.
For international distribution, the rights are held by Hulya Events’ Suman Parajuli and Somlal Thokar, while in Nepal, RR Films will distribute the movie.
