The second edition of the Tikapur Literature Festival, featuring Pahalman Singh Swar Literature, started on Saturday. The festival commenced with the welcoming remarks from various experts, with the honorable Minister for Social Development of Tikapur, Yubraj Khadka, as the chief guest.
During his speech, T.N. Joshi, the Vice-Chancellor of Sudurpashchim Province Pragna Pratisthan, described the Tikapur Literature Festival as a cultural awakening campaign.
Professor Abhi Subedi stated, “The Tikapur Literature Festival is an effort to breathe life into Tikapur and to cultivate creative power.”
The coordinator and president of the festival, the Madan Puraskar-winning writer Mahesh Vikram Shah, shared that literature festivals are being held across the country, which has enhanced the glamour of literature nationwide. He also mentioned that Tikapur, having experienced the aftermath of conflict, continues the tradition of hosting a literature festival. With the slogan of promoting social harmony through literature, he said during the opening session, “Slowly, the consciousness of Tikapur will awaken.”
In his scholarly address, analyst Hari Sharma noted that in the current situation where democracy is not fully realized in the parliament, such festivals offer an opportunity to practice ‘mini-democracy.’ During the inauguration, the Chitramaya Tikapur Mahotsav 2079 souvenir was also released.
The festival will feature 21 debate sessions. In these, writers such as Narayan Dhakal, Keshav Dahal, Buddhisagar, Saraswati Pratika, Pragati Rai, and Saguna Shah will debate various topics related to Nepali narrative literature.
Additionally, writers Bindra Subedi, Yubraj Nayanghare, Pratik Dhakal, Mohan Mainali, and Ghanashyam Khadka will discuss and analyze Nepali non-fiction and philosophy of life. Critics like Lakshman Prasad Gautam, Gyanu Adhikari, Brataraj Acharya, along with former Vice-Chancellor of Sudurpashchim University Ammar Raj Joshi and Dhananjay Timilsina, will present critical views on Nepali literature.
Mina Bhama, Diya Maske, Keki Adhikari, Pradeep Bhattarai, Ravindra Singh Baniya, Ghimire Yubraj, Shushila Tamang, and others will engage in discussions on cinema, drama, and various aspects of art.
The festival will continue from the 24th to the 26th of Falgun.
