
The teaser of the much-awaited Nepali film ‘Mahabhoj’, set to release on Jestha 15 (May 28), has been officially unveiled.
The teaser reflects social realism, emphasizing family and societal conflicts triggered by money.
A powerful dialogue between actors Khagendra Lamichhane and Dayahang Rai stands out in the teaser:
“One doesn’t become a murderer only by pulling a trigger — those who push people to death are murderers too!”
This line makes it clear that the film goes beyond depicting physical violence. It delves into themes of social injustice, economic disparity, and the emotional and existential crises created by power structures.
Dayahang Rai, portraying a cooperative chairman, is seen transitioning between calm and intense emotional states.
One scene shows him storming into a house wielding a khukuri, while another depicts a burning motorcycle — signaling a tense and dramatic narrative.
Actress Gaumaya Gurung, who plays his wife, is seen trying to calm his fury.

Directed by Dinesh Raut, ‘Mahabhoj’ is strategically releasing on the occasion of Republic Day.
According to the director, the film portrays the psychological, familial, and moral pressures brought about by financial instability, where each character is fighting for their dignity and survival.
The cast includes Aryan Sigdel, Dayahang Rai, Khagendra Lamichhane, Anjana Baraili, Gaumaya Gurung, Malika Mahat, Basundhara Bhusal, Mohan Niraula, Buddhi Tamang, Kamalmani Nepal, Pushkar Gurung, Binod Nyaupane, Abha Aryal, and Birendra Singh Kushwaha, among others.
Produced under the joint banners of Clock Work Creation and Picture Frame, the film is backed by producer Himal Kadariya, with the story and screenplay written by Bikash Subedi.
According to the production team, ‘Mahabhoj’ will be released simultaneously in Nepal and countries with significant Nepali diaspora populations.
