Netflix has acquired the digital rights for the highly anticipated Indian film “Pushpa 2” for ₹275 crores.
This deal marks one of the largest digital rights purchases in Indian cinema history, highlighting Netflix’s interest in South Indian content.
Before its release, the film has already grossed ₹1,085 crores through various rights sales. Netflix’s investment suggests a desire to replicate the commercial success of the first “Pushpa” film. Allu Arjun recently won a National Film Award for this movie, likely influencing Netflix’s decision.
When combining the sales of all digital rights, the total revenue amounts to ₹425 crores.
The film has earned ₹220 crores in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, ₹200 crores in Northern India, ₹50 crores in Tamil Nadu, and ₹30 crores in Karnataka. Additionally, it made ₹20 crores in Kerala and ₹140 crores in overseas markets, with music rights sold for ₹65 crores and satellite rights for ₹85 crores.
