The ‘Film Festival’ was concluded at Nepal Tourism Board on Friday, organized by the Film Development Board. The festival was part of the Himwatkhanda Art, Literature, and Cultural Convergence, during which a discussion on ‘Language in Nepali Cinema’ was held, followed by a special screening of the Nepali film ‘Basai’, based on the famous Nepali novel ‘Basai’.
In the first session, an interactive discussion on ‘Language in Cinema’ was held, focusing on the language used in films and the role cinema plays in the development of language. The session was facilitated by Dr. Ghanshyam Khatiwada, and senior artists Harihar Sharma, Dr. Ramesh Bhattarai, and Dr. Bindu Sharma shared their views. This interaction presented a deep analysis of the diversity, impact, and cultural context of language in Nepali cinema.
In the second session, the film ‘Basai’, based on the famous novel by Lilbahadur Kshetri, was screened. The film tells the story of historical migration in Nepali society and is expected to have a profound impact on the audience.
The Film Development Board expressed confidence that the festival would further highlight the language, literature, and cultural influence of Nepali cinema. It was also seen as an opportunity to expand Nepal’s cinematic influence in the Himalayan region.
The Himalayan Art, Literature, and Cultural Convergence will continue for three days, with representatives from Nepal, India, China, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Thailand participating.
The event was organized by the Madan Bhandari Art-Literature Foundation with the aim of fostering cultural exchange between various ethnic groups and communities, while embracing the languages, cultures, civilizations, and traditions of the Himalayan region.
