The cast of the movie Karma claims that it is different from the usual films released in the Nepali film industry. Both in terms of story and narration, Karma is said to stand out.
“This movie is different from the ones currently being released. It is distinct from the regular films we see today,” says actor Mukun Bhusal. “The director has presented the story in a unique way and has narrated it differently as well.”
Although every filmmaker and actor claims their film is different before its release, Bhusal insists that Karma genuinely stands apart. He believes that the storytelling, making, and narration set it apart from the typical films currently being released. That is why he has complete faith in the project.
He further mentioned that Bipin Karki has prepared himself well for the action genre in this film. “The filmmakers placed their trust in Bipin Karki, and he, in turn, worked with great dedication,” says Bhusal. “His hard work is evident in the teaser, which has received a great response.”
Actor Divyadev also praised Bipin Karki’s dedication to every role he has played so far. “He has consistently proven himself in different characters across various films. In Karma, too, he has worked with the same dedication,” says Divyadev. “This has left a lasting impression not only on the filmmakers but also on the audience. People now believe that whatever character he portrays, he does it with effort and excellence. He has proven himself once again in this film.”
Similarly, actress Sarita Giri recalled how director Saurav Chaudhary approached her for the film, saying he needed a “character” rather than just a “mother” in the story. “That line alone touched me deeply,” she shared. “The role in the movie is exactly like that.”
Despite playing motherly roles in several films, Giri stated that her character in Karma is unique. “I have played many mother roles before, but in Karma, my character is not just about being a mother,” she explains. “There is much more to the role. The way the director has shaped this character, it will redefine the typical portrayal of mothers in Nepali cinema.”
Director Chaudhary emphasized the theme of karma in the movie, stating that no matter how much wrongdoing one commits, fate will eventually deliver justice. “Even if someone receives praise for doing something wrong, at some point, they will have to pay the price through someone else,” he says. “That is what karma is. I believe in it, which is why I made this film. That’s why I say—do good for everyone.”
He further explained that even if someone wrongs him, he does not have to retaliate because karma will eventually balance everything out.
Actress Upasana Singh Thakuri expressed her unwavering faith in Karma. She also said she trusts Bipin Karki’s performance in the action role.
Although she plays opposite the action hero, she clarified that her role in Karma is not an action one. However, working in an action film has sparked her interest in the genre, and she now hopes for more opportunities in such roles.
The movie features Bipin Karki, Upasana Singh Thakuri, Mukun Bhusal, Divyadev, Sarita Giri, Ben Basnet, Sujyan Silwal, Anil Budhathoki, and Nirmal Sharma, among others.
Set for release on Chaitra 29 (April 11, 2025), Karma will be screened simultaneously in Nepal and overseas.
Belonging to the action genre, Karma blends drama, suspense, and action. The story is written by director Chaudhary himself.
The film’s international distribution rights have been acquired by Seven Seas Cinema.
The technical team includes Bhaskar Swar as the music director, Kabiraj Gahatraj as the choreographer, Shri Shrestha as the action director, and Nimesh Shrestha as the editor.
The movie also features Taranath Nyaupane as the chief assistant director, Sameer Miya in VFX, Uttam Nyaupane in background scoring, Sahil Khan in teaser-trailer design, Vijay Bashyal in publicity design, and Rajendra Moktan as the colorist.
