
The Nepali film “Anjila” was released on the occasion of Fagu Purnima on Falgun 29 and became a super hit. For the promotion of the film, the lead actress, Anjila Tumbao Subba, who also plays the main role, has been meeting audiences in various theaters in Eastern Nepal after taking a short break from her sports career.
Anjila, who arrived in Kathmandu from Greece on Friday morning, met with the audience at the QFX Cinemas in Chhaya Center in Kathmandu in the afternoon. In the evening of the same day, she visited the Elight Cinema Hall in Itahari and interacted with the audience. On Saturday morning, she met the audience at the QFX Cinemas in Biratnagar, and in the afternoon, she went to Friends Cinemas in Dharan. In Dharan, she was ceremoniously welcomed into the theater with a Limbu cultural “Chyabrung” dance. During her visit, she also met with students from the ANFA Academy and participated in the ongoing 25th Godhuli Football Cup in Dharan.
While meeting the audience in Dharan, Anjila mentioned that Dharan is a prosperous city in sports and artistry. She highlighted that the presence of the ANFA Academy, events like the Budhasubba Gold Cup, and the ward-level Godhuli Cup have made Dharan a fertile land for sports.
The Dharan Football Club honored Anjila and the film’s producer and Anjila’s “Godfather” Prem Kumar Shrestha. The director of “Anjila,” Milan Chams, stated that after Kathmandu, Dharan is a city that loves Nepali films, and expressed the belief that if the film is a hit in Dharan, it will be successful nationwide. Actress Srijana Subba, who plays Anjila’s mother in “Anjila,” shared that they have a mother-daughter-like relationship and expressed happiness at meeting the audience together.
Anjila will remain in Eastern Nepal on Sunday as well. According to Director Chams, she will meet the audience in Birtamod, Jhapa at 1 PM and then in Damak at 2 PM. During her visit, Anjila has been provided security by the Armed Police Force.
Currently, Anjila is playing in the top division women’s football league in Greece for the team “Nis Atronmitou.” She has been in Greece for several months due to this sport. After completing the promotions, she will return to Greece.
The film portrays Anjila’s struggles and successes from her childhood to her sports career. Along with Anjila, actors Prem Kumar Shrestha, Sunil Thapa, Dayahang Rai, Vijay Baral, Srijana Subba, Mao Tse Gurung, Sumin Gurung, Buddhi Tamang, and others perform in the film.
Since entering its third week of release, the film has grossed 87 million Nepali Rupees within 13 days of screening. Audiences are enjoying the film, and it continues to perform well at the box office.
