
Actor Jitu Nepal has been declared the best actor. At the 4th Nepal Rural Film Festival held on Saturday, he won the Best Actor Award for the film Jwai Saab. At the same event, actress Keki Adhikari was declared Best Actress for her performance in the film Boksiko Ghar.
The festival, held in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, began on Thursday, Baisakh 4 (Nepali calendar) and concluded on Saturday, Baisakh 6. During the event, actor Pradeep Khadka received the ‘Best Actor (Jury)’ award for the film Pujar Sarki. The Best Musical Short Film Award went to Ramhari Khadka for Pyakuli, while Apleng La Namsha by Shekhar Lama won Best Cultural Film, and Pyakuli’s Ronis Khadka received the Encouragement Award.
The Best Short Film award went to Nirmal Paudel’s Ma Comrade, Sabir Shrestha’s Majhi was awarded Best Documentary, and Anjila, directed by Milan Chams, was declared the Best Film.
Other awardees included Bharat Regmi for Best Editing (Pujar Sarki), Shivaram Shrestha for Best Cinematography (Boksiko Ghar), Milan Chams as Best Director (Anjila), Rishiraj Acharya with the Jury Mention Award (Draupadi), Basanta Nirola with the Jury Award for Direction (Jwai Saab), and Manoj Shrestha who won Best Visual Effects for Boksiko Ghar.
Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung, Chairman of the Film Development Board Dinesh DC, and Chairman of Gosainkunda Rural Municipality Kaisang Nurpu Tamang handed over the awards and certificates to the winners.
The three-day-long festival showcased 22 films of various genres. With the participation of dozens of filmmakers and film journalists, the closing event also marked the celebration of the 30th Wildlife Week, the 4th Gosainkunda Rural Municipality Chairman Cup 2082, and the 13th Red Panda Trophy Volleyball Tournament.
The festival opened with a screening of Anjila, a film based on the life of Nepali women’s football team captain Anjila Tumbapo Subba. On the first day, April 16 (Baisakh 4), films including Anjila, Pujar Sarki, Jwai Saab, and Boksiko Ghar were screened.
With the theme “Our own village, our own place, our own language, our own films,” Celebrity Nepal has been regularly organizing this festival. Festival chairman Raghunath Sapkota shared that the event aims to promote film culture in rural communities.
During the event, Radio Rasuwa journalist Deepak Lama was awarded a Journalism Award with a cash prize of NPR 5,555, and Laj Sharanam film producer Navin Shrestha was honored. According to chairman Sapkota, the festival, which has been held regularly for the past four years, will continue in the future.
