The trailer of the upcoming Nepali film Jhilikko, slated for release on May 1 (Baisakh 19), has been officially released. Directed by Yadav Kumar Bhattarai, the film sensitively explores the growing crisis of digital addiction among children and its impact on family dynamics and social well-being.

The trailer opens with a young schoolgirl being reprimanded by her teacher for bringing a mobile phone to class. It then delves into the consequences of excessive screen time, highlighting health deterioration, hospital visits, and chronic illness in children.

The narrative further portrays issues like family disintegration, emotional neglect by parents, and the widening communication gap between guardians and children—all stemming from the overuse of digital devices.

Ayushi Dhakal plays the central role of the digitally addicted child, delivering a compelling performance. The film also stars Sunil Pokharel, Barsha Siwakoti, Bishal Pokharel, Bhola Raj Sapkota, Janvi Basnet, Jenish Shrestha, and Jebish Shrestha.

Director Bhattarai, known for his acclaimed socially themed film Jhola, says Jhilikko aims to raise awareness about the consequences of careless technology use. He emphasizes the importance of coordination among children, parents, teachers, and policymakers to address the issue.

Produced under the banner of Media for Culture Pvt. Ltd., the film features cinematography by Deepak Bajracharya, editing by Nimesh Shrestha, and sound design by Uttam Neupane. The screenplay was co-written by Bhattarai, Arun Dev Joshi, and Dev Brat.

Umesh Paudel serves as the executive producer, while Sushila Acharya, Ramgopal Thapa, and Kiran Kumar Acharya are listed as producers. The film is a collaborative production with Janata Television.
