
A grand musical event titled Unko Sweater Evening was held in Dharan on Thursday evening, drawing more than 6,000 enthusiastic attendees.
Organized at the Dharan stadium, the event was part of the major promotional campaign for the upcoming film Unko Sweater, which is set to release this Friday.
Some audience members arrived by motorbike rally all the way from Phidim, Panchthar, covering a distance of over 200 kilometers to attend the event. Additionally, groups of viewers from various nearby villages also made their way to the program.
The event was graced by prominent figures, including Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Harka Sampang and Deputy Mayor Indra Bikram Beg. Lead cast members of the film—Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Wilson Bikram Rai, Pariksha Limbu, Alex Paras—as well as director Naveen Chauhan, singer Sujan Chapagain, composer-singer Jhuma Limbu, and lyricist Yubaraj Kafle were welcomed and honored by Mayor Sampang.
Sujan Chapagain and his Infinity Band performed a lineup of popular songs including “Lajayera Eklaai Kina,” “Timi Bina Timi Hunu,” “Phoolthunge Rani,” “Aansuko Bhaari,” “Gala Pukka,” “Teenpate,” and “Makhamali.” The duet “Kafle” with singer Jhuma Limbu received particularly strong applause from the audience.
According to director Naveen Chauhan, the proceeds from the event will be donated to support the labor culture campaign initiated by Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City. Previously, similar Uunko Sweater Evening events had been held in Pokhara and Kathmandu.
Unko Sweater marks director Chauhan’s debut feature film, set for worldwide release on Baisakh 26 (May 8, 2024). Prior to this, Chauhan directed musical films such as Ghoomi Ghoomi, Dekhera Timilai – Teenpate, Phoolthunge Rani, and Chandrama. He also wrote the script for Unko Sweater.
The film was shot in Phidim and along the Nepal–India border in Falelung.
Produced by Artmandu Pvt. Ltd., the film stars Bipin Karki, Miruna Magar, Sunil Pokharel, Mao Tse Gurung, Wilson Bikram Rai, Prem Subba, Alex Paras, Pariksha Limbu, Suraj Tamu, Sharda Devi Silwal, and Bhawana Khapangi Magar, among others.
Musically, Sujan Chapagain and Jhuma Limbu served as music directors. Songs like “Phool,” “Makhamali,” and “Kafle,” along with the recently released trailer, have gained significant popularity on social media.
