Singer and composer Jhuma Limbu shared that she was finally able to work freely, the way she had always wanted, in the film Jaar.

She said that after two and a half decades, she found a platform that allowed her to do exactly the kind of work she had envisioned. “While continuing my music journey, I found a platform that matched what I had always wanted — the film Jaar. When people approached me saying they needed the kind of music I do, there was no reason to say no. That’s why I worked on Jaar,” she explained.

Now, after 25 years in the music field, she feels content with her work. “After 25 years, I feel satisfied with the work I did in Jaar. It’s not entirely fulfilling, but to some extent, I am happy,” she said. “It feels like I finally got a space to contribute something in Jaar.”

After the film’s characters arrive in a Limbu village, she got the opportunity to work on music rooted in the Limbu community, she added.

Most viewers who attended the premiere of Jaar praised its songs and music openly. The film’s soundtrack, composed by Jhuma Limbu, reflects the rhythm, tone, and cultural essence of the Limbu community from the eastern hilly region, and audiences have appreciated that deeply.

The songs in Jaar follow the characters’ journey, and Jhuma not only composed but also performed them.

Based on real events from the 1800s, the film is set to release this Friday (Baisakh 26) across the country.

Jaar is a historical film based on a story from 225 years ago, originally written by literary figure Indra Bahadur Rai. It has been directed by Phurba Chhiring Lama.

Although it deals with social themes, Jaar is a complete cinematic package, claims director Phurba. He is confident that the film will win the hearts of audiences.

The main cast of Jaar includes Saugat Malla, Anup Bikram Shahi, and actress Geetanjali Thapa.

The film was produced in collaboration with Hope Reels, LA Seven Shorts, Baral Studio, and Kewa Production, with cinematography done in Sikkim.

The executive producers of Jaar are Trilochan Pandey, Neeraj Rai, Nursang Bhutia, Jyoti Kshetri, and Pema Rinzing Lepcha.

With cinematography by Saravanan Elavarasu and editing by Akhilesh Rai, the film features music by Jhuma Limbu and Ganga Thapa.

Jaar will be released simultaneously in Nepal, India, and international markets. In Nepal, it will be distributed by Apple Entertainment, Reach Entertainment, and FD Company.
