The highly anticipated Indian film ‘Kanguva’, starring Surya and Bobby Deol, will not release in Nepal this Friday.
This confirmation has come through a message from the distribution company A-8 Hall, which had been working hard to bring the film to Nepal.
A-8 Hall Hall, along with DCN and RR Films, had planned to release the film in Nepal.
With the Indian action-packed film being unable to release, this is undoubtedly good news for Nepali films, particularly as the Nepali film ‘Purnabahadur Ko Sarangi’ continues to perform exceptionally well at the box office.
Currently, more than 450 shows of ‘Purnabahadur Ko Sarangi’ are dominating theaters across Nepal. Additionally, Neeta Dungana’s star-studded film HRASHWO DEERGHA is expected to secure at least 150 shows when it releases on Friday. As Nepali films continue to rake in excellent earnings, the absence of ‘Kanguva’ will be a relief for Nepali filmmakers.
Sources indicate that the Indian distributors of ‘Kanguva’ had initially intended to sell the Nepal rights for 1.2 crore INR. However, concerns about the high investment costs, combined with the uncertain returns from films like ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, alongside the ongoing success of ‘Purnabahadur Ko Sarangi’, led to the decision to halt its release in Nepal.
A source mentioned, “The absence of this film in Nepal will definitely be a relief for Nepali films.
Current trends indicate that Nepali audiences are prioritizing Nepali films.” ‘Purnabahadur Ko Sarangi’, produced by Seven Seas, has already earned a remarkable 20.73 crore gross nationwide in just 11 days.
