Six individuals, including Police Inspector Binu Shahi, have been named defendants in a honey trap case in Bhaisipati, Lalitpur.
Following an investigation, authorities concluded their involvement and charged them accordingly.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) submitted a report recommending charges against Binu Shahi and five others for criminal gain and organized crime. While four of the accused are in custody, Police Inspector Binu Kumari Shahi and Darshan Pokharel are on the run.
The case involves allegations of a honey trap targeting a real estate businessman in Bhaisipati. The businessman was allegedly coerced with threats of being implicated in a rape case, and money was extorted from him. Four associates of Shahi, including an assistant police officer, are currently in detention.
The businessman accused Inspector Binu Shahi of colluding with others to extort NPR 3 million from him in Sanagaun, Lalitpur. After the incident became public, Shahi was removed from her position as the chief of the Bhaisipati Police Division, and the Lalitpur District Police Office formed a special investigation team.
Despite being summoned multiple times for questioning, Shahi failed to appear and has been absconding since an arrest warrant was issued against her.
